What you'll need:

  • 1/4 lb ground beef
  • Salt and pepper
  • Wax paper
  • A meat thermometer (optional)

Instructions:

1. Take your ground beef and shape them into round patties about 4 inches in diameter. Make a small, 1-inch indentation or dimple in the centre of the patties. This way, they'll cook nice and evenly.

2. Season your patties with salt and pepper. If you want, you can also add other spices like red chili powder and onion powder. I personally enjoy adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce and some minced garlic for that extra burst of umami flavour!

3. Arrange your patties on a microwave-safe dish and make sure that they're not too crowded. Now cover them with a sheet of wax paper and place them inside the microwave.

4. Cook them for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Now flip them over and cook the other side for another 1 minute and 30 seconds.

5. Insert your meat thermometer into the centre of the patties and check whether the temperature is around 160-165F. Beef needs to be at this temperature so that it's safe to eat

Once you're happy with how your meat is cooked, take out your patties and drain any excess grease. Now comes my favourite part!

Take some hamburger buns and toast them on both sides. Gently place your patties on top and add your favourite toppings. Cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard are just a few of the most popular options.

Dive into your microwave-cooked burger and enjoy. Bon Appétit!
